Now it is Sunday morning, and I am getting ready to leave Ireland.
It had been a great few days. We got in on Wednesday afternoon, and a
few of us die-hards went into town to walk around and figure out what
we might want to do in the next few days. Thursday all day we
had lectures at the Vet School, and the professors here have been
incredibly great and are wonderful teachers. I am very jealous of the
public health program they have here, they actually teach it rather
than ramble on for hours and hours... We learned all about TB in the
animals around the world and here, they have a problem with badgers
transmitting tb into the cattle population. We also got this great
lecture on traditional remedies that the older people use out in the
country. Interspersed with that lecture was alot of Irish Gaelic
language stuff. Thursday night we went into town and wandered
around. Friday morning we had off, and we went to Glendalough in the
afternoon. It is an awesome old monestary founded by St. Kevin waaay
back, I think in the 6th century. We took a gorgeous walk, or "hill
walk" as they call it here. Friday evening I was able to meet up with
Mark, and we planned what to do for Saturday. We ended up going
into Bray yesterday, and walking all around. We walked down the coast
on this great trail to the next town down the coast, Greystone. We then
walked up a hill called Little Sugar Loaf, and finally walked back into
Bray. It was a great day of fun but I wsa incredibly tired after about
6 hours of hiking. So, that leads to today, and we are headed
off to Scotland. It's back to the british pound for currency, one more
switch to go through... all this travelling is great fun.
