Today was a great day of touring around. We first went into Camden
town to see the campus where the students here spend their first two
years. It was pretty interesting, we got a guided tour from one of the
anatomists, who tried to persade us to use the book he wrote. It has
real pictures, much better than the pencil drawings in Miller's Anatomy
of the Dog book. They also keep their palpator horse and cows in the
middle of the city, thought that was a hoot. Right in the pen is a
basketball court. From there we went wandering around, and
eventually wound up in the middle of London proper. We walked to
Westminster Cathedral where the line was incredibly long to get into,
so the group decided to not do it. I'll be going back there tomorrow,
as it is something I want to see. From there we took a glance at Big
Ben and Parliment building, and headed over to take a tower of London
tour. That was fabulous!! Our guide was incredibly entertaining, and
had lots of stories, some true and some probably not so true. We
then went to an Indian restaraunt for dinner, there is an incredibly
strong indian presence in England, and it gave me my Indian food fix.
Brought back fond memories of India last summer, also encouraged when I
heard from Matt tonight. India 2005 seems to be going well, but they
need to drink more water! After wandering around for a while,
we headed back to school, and here I am typing to you. I love walking
around these big cities, and just getting the feel of the people, it's
a fabulous time. People watching is great. Oh, and I bought this great
sea green Pashmina scarf today, as I needed something to wear on my
head when it rains. I must say, I look incredibly fashionable and all
citied-out when I am dressed up wearing my scarf. I'm actually quite
enjoying getting dressed up for the lectures and tours and going round
the city. But don't worry, I am still quite at home in my barn clothes
working with the cows.
