Let's talk about food. The food here is fantastic! I really
enjoy it, even when it makes me sick. No, let's start from the
beginning. The food really is good, there is lots of carbs involved in
the food here. A regular dish involves a type of bread/cake (usually
rice or wheat) in either a flat pita like form or a fluffy sponge like
form. Then there are soupy dishes to eat. You scoop some of it up with
the bread and stick it in your mouth, yum! You eat with your hands
here. :-) Great fun. Not very hygenic, but still very fun. Anyhow,
eating out is more fun, because we get to try more things. The food
that is catered to us gets repetitive after a while. And, it's rather
toned down in the spice department. Although we are getting meat. I go
for the chicken. We do get some lamb and goat, but while it sounds
good, it's not of very good quality, and is rather gristly (sometimes
the chicken is as well) so I've been staying away from the meat. I eat
lots of lentil dishes, though, so I'm getting protein. We do dream of
cheeseburgers, though. Anyhow, the reason to talk about food
today, is that earlier this week, we all got sick. I lasted the
longest, and didn't have it quite so bad, but we were subject to a case
of exposure to something by either food or water. I felt like I was
running an infirmiry on Tuesday, as there was someone sick in every
room, and I hadn't gotten sick yet. But, all have recovered now, and we
are all back to clinics.I will have cooking lessons tomorrow, so
hopefully I can come back home and cook some of the good stuff for you.
I don't know how much depends on stuff you can only get here, though. I'll write again when I get up the patience to work on these dial up computers again... I love dsl and ethernet!
