Get Shorty film location - No thanks.  I preferred to visit the film location from a more memorable movie.

We all know the story of the lovable alien ET who landed on earth back in 1981 and got left behind in suburban California and ended up staying as a 'guest' in the home of Elliott. But whereabouts in Los Angeles was the house situated?  I set about trying to find out and I discovered the address on the internet very easily.  Then it was a case of  finding the address by using an online map of the city - sure enough I found the address within minutes.  The challenge was finding my way there as I had to rely on public transport (bus)  The bus departed from downtown Los Angeles (can't remember the number) but it was bound for the suburb of Tujunga which took about one hour travelling along the main road.  Now how does a person know when to get off because Lonzo Street was situated more than a mile from the main road. Well that's when taking notice of geographical surroundings acts like a beacon.  ET's home was set against a backdrop of a mountain range.  One particular peak directly behind the house had a small hump; and so when I spotted this hump  I knew it was time to get off. No other homes had been build behind the house which helped in my search.  It is difficult to find but I was trying to follow the map as best I could (not all roads were named which hindered me) but I was heading in the right direction - just by coincidence I found ET's earth home quicker than I anticipated.  I stood at end of the driveway instantly recognising the the famous home. The house looked exactly the same but the front lawn was greener with more trees. It was time to take a photo as a souvenir before heading back to down town L.A.
