I had a lazy afternoon as I felt a bit wiped after the night before and the yoga this morning.  Plus is was very hot and so I just didn't feel like going anywhere.  The rest was good and when Vera got in about 5pm I was pretty awake.

We started the evening by getting some food at this place on the moat road, which is basically a pick-up place, but the food is good :-)  The girls there were 'interesting' and there were a couple of ka-toey, or lady-boys there.  I tell you, they are so beautiful that you have a hard time telling, I feel sorry for all those oblivious western males who might get more than they bargained for.  I think the basic rule of thumb here though is the shorter the skirt the more chance they are ka-toey :-)

After food we chilled for a bit with a coffee (I had a Ice Boom Chocolate :-0 ) and then headed over to the rasta bar where I had been the night before Mandalay
Mandalay
.  Turns out this was the one place Vera wanted to take me to but didn't know where it was.  Ironically I took her there :-).  Anyway we stayed for a drink and chilled to Bob Marley, always good.

We decided to head over to Mandalay, which is the big gay club in chiang-mai.  Unfortunately it was pretty dead (this was 10.30) so we had a think and decided to go back to mine (as we were really close) and get a bit more dressed for clubbing.  I wore the new skirt and top I bought which was great, bit shorter than I would normally wear but I enjoyed wearing it.

It was still a bit early for Mandalay so we headed over to Bubble which is more main-stream club. When we got there they were some quite cool tribal house.  We got singapore slings and soaked up the vibe a bit. The drinks were good and included in the 100baht entrace which was such a bargain.  We headed to the dance floor and got down to some serious fun :-)  The music was kicking and we both had a fab time. At about 1.30 it started to die off a bit, music wise, and we wanted to avoid the meat-market kind of thing that apparantely happens there when it closes (everyone trying to hook up with someone). So we headed off to mandalay.

This time it was much busier.  The main room downstairs still had a band playing so we headed upstairs to the trance bar. The funny thing about this club is that there is specific dance floor. Instead there are lots of seats and long couches that people hang out on and dance around.  It took a little getting used to but it was actually quite nice to be able to dance away and then just sit down where you are and have a drink (they serve you at your seat) without having to fight through people or stand all night Reggae Wall

.

The music was seriously good, at least to start with.  As it filled up ironically the music got worse, it was as though the DJ did his own thing early on and then went main-stream when more people arrived.  Shame but it was still dance-able so we had a got bop until about 3.30am.  This club was almost entirely thai but there were some westerners there (in contrast to bubble which was a bit more 50/50).

We decided to try this other club then, just to see it. Vera had said it was a bit of a dive but worth a look. It wasn't much good. Quite hot and sweaty in there and not good music so we popped our heads in and then left (it was free so nothing lost).

We then got some food (spring rolls and fries) which was fab.  A short stroll and we were back at our guesthouses having had a really good night out.  Will go back and take some piccies of the places so you can see.
