Around 11:45, I left to meet Mr
"Un crème, s'il vous plaît."/"An espresso with milk, please.", I said to the waiter.
"Oui, une crêpe."/"Yes, a crepe," I heard the waiter say.
"Non, pas une CRÊPE. Un crème."/"No, not a crepe. A crème," I corrected.
"Oui, une crêpe."/"Yes, a crepe," I heard him say again.
"CRÈME", I ennunciated.
"Oui, d'accord pas de crèpe. Un café crème."/"Yes, ok no crepe. A crème," the waiter said good naturedly.
A short time later, the waiter returned with everyone's orders
"Et voilà, un café crêpe pour vous madame,"/"And here you go, a crepe coffee for you ma'am," he said with a laugh as he set down my coffee. For the rest of my time at La Perle, I would not hear the end of this teasing.
Talking with Hugh and Martin was very interesting. They shared their views on the United States, France, the role of Britain in world history, world politics and their travels. From time to time, they made snarky quips to each other as siblings often do. I enjoyed their accents and humor. Listening to them I couldn't help but feel I was on the set of "Top Gear". As lunch drew to a close, they outlined their site seeing agenda for the rest of the day and we parted ways. They wished me well in my classes and in return I wished them well in their remaining few days in Paris.
