I am definately having a great time adjusting to this "g'day mate" thing going on. It is extremely difficult for me to take it seriously. Just a simple greeting and I can't even embrace it. Take it in. I always reply with a "hello there". It is ok though. I'm sure I will be saying it soon enough in my dreams. I only got here yesterday but it feels like our day went on for a week. I got off my incredible flight from Air New Zealand, took the shuttle into the city and walked a couple blocks to meet Lauren at a hostel. She arrived a day earlier. I have absolutely NO complaints about my flight like the others. They boozed me up with wine and were incredibly nice with their sexy accents which was like a song bird to my ears. I befriended a mother and daughter who sat next to me. They were obsessed with Canada and we instanltly had much to talk about. I gave them a loonie and they were so thankful. So my flight was great.
I arrived in Melbourne at 9:30 a.m
Right when I got to Melbourne I found Lauren and we went on a quest to find our third member of the pack, Brian. We all screamed and bounced up and down for joy ( for those that know Brian, you know what his sound is) making huge fools of ourselves but who are any of us to care. We are all in shock that we are here in the far away lands of Oz experiencing this together. We have worked well so far as a threesome. It is day 2. I will re-evaluate next week. haha. We stayed at a huge hostel last night. More like a hotel actually. Everything about it was perfect except that they just re did the carpets so we inhaled fiber glass and toxins all night. We are all feeling slightly druged today. We went on Melbourne's biggest stupid pub crawl last night. It was really fun and a good way to get to know some bars but it was all about sex, not forming relationships. Not to say that's a bad thing but not what we were looking for. I did meet a nice fellow from New Zealand... but Brian, Lauren and I danced the night away

. I am sooooo confused about the time change. I feel like my jet lag will rest with me for the duration of this year. I don't care because I'm having so much fun! We are a day ahead here so right now is Thursday the 22nd. I also believe that we are 8 hours ahead on top of a day. It even sounds confusing trying to explain it. I'm thinking of getting a cell phone here temporarily becuase it is way cheaper than visa payphone calls. I also need it for landlords and employers to get in touch with me. I was recruited by a Greenpeace man today. I am seriously considering working for them. Minimum wage here is 16$/hour. The cost of living isn't so bad considering our Canadian dollar is so good right now. The only thing much more expensive in general is food. A bag of chips or a chocolate bar can be anywhere around $3. Makes no excuses for getting fat then. . We didn't feel so hot this morning after the gross, fruity, creamy shots that we were given at each of the bars. We left that hostel as soon as we woke up this morning and moved to where Brian has been staying all week. This one only holds 36 people and is so much more personable and intimate. Kinda like a frat house minus the volume. So now that we are settled in there, we are going to start looking for work and a flat to rent. This weekend we are planning on taking a road trip to a place called great ocean road. We need to rent a car to do it so please everyone hope that we don't kill ourselves driving on the other side of the road. It is definately going to take me a while to get used to that. If I do die here, I guarantee you in will be walking across the street...but that won't happen...dun dun dun.
