Vienna is a university city, with over 100K university students. It helps that Uni is free for Austrians (although a larger percentage of Americans are college-educated, just sayin'). We have had the opportunity to experience some of the coolest parts of university life in this city, courtesy of the amazing staff of this program. Yesterday we spent the evening with hundreds of students and other young people at Museumquartier sitting on these cool pieces of public furniture called Enzos (which happens to be the name of a club in Tulsa). It was exactly how public drinking should be
As far as cultural events, I also visited the Vienna city hall this week where they are currently hosting a film festival because the opera is closed for the summer. This city is big enough to have something for everyone, while still being manageable for a 3-week stay. Speaking of which, my 3 weeks are coming to an end and I leave Vienna in less than 36 hours.
When I get home, I'll wrap up this blog with my Eastern Europe travel tips.
I don't know if you noticed the change in the title of this blog. I can't believe I didn't think of Billy Joel's Vienna when I started writing, but it's better late than never I suppose.
Finally, I would be amiss if I failed to mention the tragedy in Spain last night. Please keep the souls of the departed in your prayers, and may Santiago de Compostela pray for them and invite them into the loving arms of their creator. Amen.
