Flag of Austria  , Vienna,
Friday, July 12, 2013

Just finished my first week at WU in Vienna.  We have class for 4 hours every morning and they have social and cultural activities planned for us in the afternoons.  I've missed most of the activities so far because I was still spending time with Nana, but I did get to join the tour of the city and the welcome party.  During the city tour, a former chancellor of Austria walked by and our guide asked him to take a picture with us.  Then we walked past a hotel where Rihanna was arriving in her tour bus.  Clearly this city is a pretty happening place.

Vienna is stunningly beautiful.  It's probably my new favorite European city.  It's definitely more expensive than the rest of Eastern Europe, but less than Western cities like Paris and London.  I don't have to worry about it too much because most meals are included in my program cost, as well as a public transportation pass.

My first class was International Strategic Management and our professor was from the University of Warsaw.  This is different from my study abroad experience in Spain because the majority of my classmates are not from the US.  We have a cultural evening planned for next Wednesday and we are expected to present something about our home culture.  Should be interesting.

I might be coming down with a cold and I have an early train to catch in the morning, so I'm once again skipping the social excursion - a trip to a traditional wine tavern.  Hopefully I'll have more to report next week.  For now, enjoy the pictures.
