In all fairness, each of those things has only happened once, but you can't blame me for thinking that my history with rail travel is cursed. That explains why I broke down crying when my rail reservation that I so triumphantly secured yesterday turned up missing after a mad dash through the Warsaw Central Station. Okay okay, I'm obviously crying way too much on this trip. I'm still tired. I'll get my act together before classes start.
Anyhow, we arrived without a scrape in Krakow. Not much to report from today. We slept too late to accomplish much in Warsaw before our train ride, so we just returned to the Old Town for some souvenir shopping. The train ride was 4 hours of beautiful Polish countryside, so we arrived here too late to do much else except meet check in to the apartment and meet our host. If I had nothing bad to say about airbnb yesterday, that is even more so true today. This apartment is absolutely glamorous. As in, I would live here forever. The only weird thing is that the toilet is in a separate room from the sink and bathtub.
Our host gave us directions to grocery stores, several restaurants, and all of the tourist spots. She also left us with a bowl full of perfect cherries (I seriously didn't know cherries could be this perfect so at first I assumed they were plastic), a loaf of fresh bread, and plenty of fresh flowers. Seriously nicer than any hotel we could afford and the personal attention is wonderful. If you ever spend time in Krakow, hit me up and I'll give you the details. In fact, I'll post the details once I leave here, pictures too, but until then my dad would say that any information will be used by a murderer to track us down. A fair point.
Just to avoid leaving you on that murder-y note, I'll mention that on the train I finished Tina Fey's audiobook for Bossy Pants. I highly recommend the book, but I would think twice before listening to something that funny through headphones in a very public place, unless you're okay with the weird looks you get for laughing out loud for no apparent reason on a busy train, which you should be, because seriously, who cares?
