Angkor Wat and Lara Croft

If it wasn't for Angkor Wat, Siem Reap would be a quaint rural village in backwater Cambodia. And indeed, it used to be. The sheer majesty and grandeur of the Temples of Angkor, rediscovered in 1860, not only put this town firmly on the map, but have turned into into a boomtown. The growth of Siem Reap in recent years, and in years to come, has and will be phenomenal.
It's fair enough though - Angkor Wat is awesome. Jaw-droppingly incredible. Words, in fact, cannot even do it justice, and so I will resist the urge to try to describe the experience with a multitude of superlatives and exclamations, and instead hope that my photos can inspire in you the same sense of wonder that I felt walking across the ancient ruins.
