The weather cleared enough for us to walk up to the terminal ice of the Fox Glacier, crossing glacial streams ( a little scary!) The terminal ice was very impressive - it is a very huge mountain of ice towering many metres from ground level - and icy cold up close (not surprisingly!).
Once back in the van the rains came down in a huge downpour as we drove East to Wanaka.
We had slight cause for concern as the fuel light came on and we appeared to be in the middle of nowhere. We ended up coasting down hills until we reached Lake Hawea 15kms from Wanaka as we didn't know how far we could go, we thought we might be stranded, and have never been so pleased to see a fuel stop!
We arrived in Wanaka and went to see the Cinema Paradiso - a kitch little cinema, however the film we could have seen was sold out, but they still had an amusing King Kong arm reaching out over the front of the cinema with a mannequin heroine clutched in the arm!!
Up early to glorious blue skies (finally!!). We went to Puzzling World and actually managed to complete the maze in an hour - it was a tricky maze!!
We then drove to Queenstown, stopping off at Kawarau Bridge for Rob to do the unthinkable - yes he did a bungy jump - and was remarkably calm for someone who is apparently scared of heights!!! In fact I think I was more nervous than Rob when he jumped!!
