A restless nights sleep due to overweight Canadians snoring louder than an angry moose, and seats that only reclined so far - not the most comfortable but we are in economy so mustn't grumble!!!
We saw trees, trees and yet more trees, lakes and stunning sunset, and misty morning on the lakes. Eventually as we crossed over from Ontario to Manitoba we hit the Prairies of Canada!
At least we decided to break up the journey, those travelling straight through to Vancouver had a 72 hour train journey and were going slightly mad even when we hopped off! Still we are now halfway across Canada and as we head West the journey will be no more than 8 hours!!
Winnipeg is cool and not as much of a concrete jungle, more like a zoo!! Only joking! However we had wished to go up to Churchill, way up in the North to see the Polar Bears, but it is such a trek we decided against it - to my joy however Winnipeg has it's very own Polar Bears on Broadway!!! An Art Exhibition of about 100 life size concrete bears painted in various disguises....photo's to follow! (not all of them though!).
We've been down to the Forks in Winnipeg, which is an old Native meeting place, which is pretty cool, and has an amazing focal point for astronomy - too tricky to explain here, will show you the pics later.
We are off to Saskatoon this afternoon. Train leaves at 4:30pm and arrives in Saskatoon 01:30am (ahhh! luckily motel already booked so might get some sleep after all!). We have been told that Saskatoon is quite like Eastleigh (Chav's galore or the Canadian Homie version of! They have Burberry here too, but not as much. More bling and hip hop!... So worth a look on that basis alone!!!)
