The coliseum was pretty spectacular, although not as big as in my imagination. The floor had an intricate web of rooms that were exposed. After Coliseum, we took a cab to Trevi fountain, took photos then from there we went up the Spanish steps
E followed some strange line and we ended up walking up a lot of spiral staircases to the dome part of St. Peter's basilica! This is a TALL building by the way. It reminded us of the Great Wall. E decided to go up this other set of a million spiral stairs and ended up on the roof! WE clearly didn't know what we signed up for. And when you start the steps are so narrow that you can't then turn around because people are also walking up. The view was breathtaking but it was so hot out. After the church we went out of the Vatican, walked along the wall and ended up in the Vatican museum. Too bad we couldn't stay for long, but we managed to see the Sistine Chapel. It was kind of like a standard room at the Louvre. No pictures were allowed to be taken. Although we did get to see Michelangelo's painting of God touching Adam's finger. It was almost lost in the sea of other frescos and paintings. Whoever told us it'd be impossible to do Vatican and coliseum in the same day was lying and those who said you need prebooked tickets to even get into the Vatican were also lying. We managed to do it all.
