Where I stayed
We left for Craig's house at about 3:15pm on a Saturday afternoon, so we thought we would be safe to get there with plenty of time to spare. Ha Ha. Joke's on us. Almost right after we passed our opportunity to hop onto the HOV lane, it backed up. It took us over an hour and a half to get there when it should take 30 to 45 minutes. After departing the freeway we made our way to Craig's neighborhood where we found ourselves maneuvering through an alley that has a couple turns to the right before we got to the shell of what used to be a garage and is now just a passageway for a parking area for about four homes
Anyway, we were greeted by the neighbor's bull dog Clementine. She was awfully cute and the kids enjoyed her. We made our way through Craig's lovely backyard garden area and up to his house where we entered on the second level. It was a wonderfully colorful home with gobs of character. The kids were in hog heaven! Craig had brought home 3 Yorkshire puppies to try and sell for his mother. They were about 3 weeks old. They were adorable and the kids were entertained for the rest of the night.
It was good to see Craig and catch up with him and reminisce about old times. We all went over to a local pizzeria named Ella's and had a great casual dinner. Then we were given a fabulous driving tour from Craig. He brought us by things we wouldn't normally see while we were there which included; Chinatown (or what used to be Chinatown), Row Houses, Projects, a beautiful Catholic University, Catholic Cathedral, National Cathedral Dick Cheney's House and Embassy Row. We had a delightful time zooming around with a someone who knew the area so well.
After returning to his house the kids had a little more time with the dogs who they named MacKenzie, Buddy and Trixie. They had fallen deeply in puppy love. We snapped some photos so we could remember the puppies and left as we weren't sure how long it would take to get home.....around midnight again. The kids were definitely tired.
