Where I stayed
10am Went to Wilmore Lodge. This log home was built to house the engineers while they were building the dam. The views are incredible. Went into the museum where they have a catalog of fish they stocked in the lake. They also had a replica of what is called a paddle fish. Careful, this fish gets to be 134lbs and might swat you to death if you get too close. Lets go make lunch and get on the lake!
"Okay Ms. Grizwald all you need to do is sign this release form that says you are not covered for anything, but responsible for everything on this 15 year old beat to hell boat. So if anything should happen it is your responsibility!" Okay! Sign me up! (Bought an insurance policy for $20)
Got on the boat and headed out to open water! Wow! Very beautiful! Who knew there were this many millionaires let alone this many millionaires in Missouri? The Lake front homes that boarder this enormous lake are absolutely stunning! Thousands of (5,000sf minimum) custom built homes with views for days and access to the lake right in front of the homes. WOW! Decided to jump into the lake and get cooled off. Audrey was first. Jumped a couple times and then on the third jump, the wind had picked up so much that the boat was blowing away faster than she could swim. Threw life preserve to her, but it blew away from her. Mom had to jump in and push life preserve to her and rescue Audrey. Rusty didn't want to get into the water as he was too afraid of the paddle fish.
It looks like it is nearing 4:30 and don't want to get charged $5 per minute for being late. Wind has been picking up all day (definite white caps) and Bridgeport (where we rented the boat) gas tanks are down, it is so windy
Stopped in at the Captain's lounge and spoke to Captain Cook himself. Asked him where the best go cart place was. Sent us to Castle Rock where there is a hairpin turn at the bottom of a steep hill. Sounds great! Lets go!
One of the items that we found wrong when we got to Osage Beach was Rusty's tire on his bike had gone flat between being loaded onto the RV and Parking in Missouri......huh? Anyway, Clark decided to fix the flat while Ellen took the kids to the Go cart track. Clark left the 3 of them there and went on his marry way.
The kids weren't tall enough to ride by themselves. After some negotiation on Mom's part, Rusty was able to drive by himself but the daughter (What is the name of the girl in Vacation?) had to go with mom in a double seater. After lap5 Audrey was sobbing! She had just realized she was not in control of the go cart. "What is the point?! Why is this supposed to be fun? What am I supposed to experience if I am not in control?" Went for round 2....they would not let her drive.....continued to cry
Back at the RV Park sent the kids to go swimming while Ellen cooked dinner and Clark worked on the "challenges". Not sure what to do about the electrical. Don't know what is tripping it, but it is draining the house batteries. Decided to go to bed without Air even though we are connected shore power....don't need anymore problems. We will come up with a game plan in the am.
12 midnight So hot! Can't sleep!
3am woken up by rain coming through the windows.
5am still awake from lightening and thunder - Clark and kids sleeping through it all.
