It's a shoppers' paradise and a real shame we're broke! I did however, manage to update my mobile phone for a fraction of the price I would have paid at home, but that meant a visit to Sim Lim Square. Sim Lim Square is a huge multi-storey complex of about 6 floors of wall to wall shops, selling every sort of electronic device imaginable; and many I wouldn't have imagined 'cos I didn't know what they were
I then had to face the torture of walking past the endless shops on Orchard Road knowing that I really couldn't go shopping. Eifion tried to equate that with the fact that he'd just had to walk past heaps of gadget shops without buying anything - how can that possibly be the same thing? Blokes are weird!
I consoled myself with a 'Singapore Sling' in Raffles - actually I had two, but only because my Mum said " if you're in Raffles have a Singapore Sling for me" so I had one for me and one for her, like the dutiful daughter I am!
We spent today dragging ourselves around the botanical gardens in very hot and humid weather. The gardens are beautiful - our favourite part was the 'Evolution Garden' which takes you on a botanical journey back in time and shows you the different plant species which would have existed as the earth evolved over millions of years.
We then gave up and headed back to the airport. If you have to spend time in an airport then this really is the place to do it. A rooftop pool, comfy chairs and TV and heaps of bars and (oh no!) more shops! Actually, they're calling to me now and as it's only 11.00pm and we don't fly until 5.00am I think I'll just go for a wander . . .
Well that was our last report! We hope you've enjoyed reading about our wanderings as much as we've enjoyed the wandering (Ok, maybe not quite as much!). Thanks for all your emails and messages of abuse.
See you soon.
