"Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World"

Right now I'm observing the end of the world from a watch tower that sits by the only entrance into this place. It’s funny how the end of the world is circle, but this whole place is encircled with a large wall and I can see that now from this watch tower. The center of this place has a clock tower and a library and not much else. There are few people around and few residences. A river runs through this place and outside the walls I can only see trees. I see more animals than people here. During the day these beasts, as they are called, are let in through the only gate and they graze inside the walls. They are so foreign to me. I guess I would describe them as a type of goat. They are black, sandy gray, white, or brown and they also have one horn that comes out of their head. Each horn is white. They are very quiet and seem very gentle but I never see anyone care for or interact with the animals except for the man who lets them inside the gates. I’ve heard from the Gatekeeper that if I stay long enough I can see the beasts turn gold. I would love to see that! I don’t know if I’m going to stay until the autumn though.

I met one of the locals on my way to this watch tower. He was a nice guy. He wore sunglasses even though it was cloudy. He told me he was a dream catcher and that he worked at the library. I was not really sure what he was talking about and I was a little afraid that he could read my mind so I cut the chit chat short and made my way to the watch tower. He seemed nice though, and I feel bad for cutting our conversation short seeing as how he is the only local I have come into contact with other than the gatekeeper who is a burly old fellow. Maybe I will visit the library tomorrow and see what this guy is talking about. I’m going to try and sketch these animals, they are so interesting to me.
