Bonjour! We arrived in Paris on Saturday morning after taking the Eurostar train from London. It was a quick 2.25 hour trip. Our first thoughts of Paris weren't the best. The city was old and dirty from what we saw from the train. And the subway was not as nice as the clean and efficient underground. But as soon as we stepped out of the Metro station and saw Paris it was fabulous! We love the energy and character of the city. There are a lot of tourists speaking many different languages but they are all pleasant unlike in London.
We checked into our hotel which is very nice and only a block from the Parc du Champ Mars which is the Parc where the Eiffel Tour is at. Then we gragged lunch at an outdoor food stand and faced our first true all french conversation. The tricky part was figuring out how much we owed because I only know my numbers to 10. We ate lunch in the parc by the Eiffel Tower.
The next stop was Notre Dame. This was my favorite sight so far. The church has beautiful stained glass windows. We climbed the stairs to the top of the towers just in time to get stranded up there during a major downpour. But the views were worth it.
We explored the area around the river and saw the famous bouquinistes which are used book sellers. And we saw the Centre Pompidou. And then we ended the day with a boat ride down the Seine River.
We had such a great time today.
