So as mentioned in the end of the New York blog I headed to Julia & Robs holiday home with them on the Friday evening. Over Friday night there was a really heavy thunder storm that woke us all up and had flooded some of the local area. Saturday we got up had some cooked breakfast then Julia & I headed out to the supermarket whilst Rob drained the outside pipes ready for the winter. In the afternoon we headed to the beach resort that was getting ready for their annual Chowder Festival. All the local shops also have a mass clear out of all summer stock so it was busy with people looking or a bargain and chowder lovers. For those of you who aren't sure what chowder is (and i wasn't until this trip) its like a soup with clams, potatoes, carrots etc and generally comes in either New England (a creamy colored one) or Manhattan (which is more tomato based), having tried them both I would plump for the Manhattan. Sunday s the main day where you would pay $20 to enter and you can try loads of different homemade chowders and at the end one is crowned champion chowder maker! Once we were full of chowder we headed back to the house and chilled on the deck with a few drinks before Rob cooked up some steaks on the BBQ, had a few drinks and watched a movie. A very relaxing day. Decided to get the bus to Philadelphia from Atlantic City at 10:30am (a hour drive away) so turned in pretty early.
