Well Ken, Rachel, Chris, Tom, Mini and myself made our way here. It was pretty much a departure and arrival spot as Chris and Tom headed to Aus, so we had a few drinks that night. 01. Khao San Road
01. Khao San Road
Then Diana arrived back from Japan and Ken and Rachel were headed off back to Canada, so we had a few more drinks that night. Also a blast of Minis buddies arrived over from the home land, so we had a few more drinks those nights as well. So in general my first week there was a blast of going to see a few sights and havin a few drinks. The second week however was the opposite with no drink and relaxation, mainly due to the fact that Mini and the lads tore down to the Full Moon Party which left me some quiet time.

Bangkok itself is a huge city. I don't think we even scratched the surface of the place when we got there. It is a very modern city with a public transport system that would put Dublin to same, then again nearly every big city I have visited 05. Are ya sure thats a pint!!!
05. Are ya sure thats a pint!!!
would put Dublin to shame.

Anyway we stayed in Khao San road which is backpacker central. Here they have markets pubs, live bands etc and so forth. You can pretty much buy anything you want from t-shirts to stun guns to dreads and all just set up on the side of the street.

As I said for the first few days we kinda drank to say hello and goodbye to various people that were coming and going but it all wasn't about the drink. We did do a few cultural things like going to visit the palace 07. The gang
07. The gang
and then going to see a traditional Thai play. That latter was Di's fault. To be fair it was well done but I don't reckon I'd ever be enticed to see another one. We also went to see the weekend market, which is a massive stall market that only opens, you guessed it , at the weekend.

I hadn't planned on staying 32. Palace buildings
32. Palace buildings
as long as I will be coming back but there ya go thats how it worked out. So heres a few pics for ye to enjoy.
