The flight went well and we began to  experience the beauty and  chaos  that is Istanbul right away.  The taxis drive as if there are no rules.  One cab pulled up, shut off the engine, leaving his car in neutral, exited the cab while it was rolling to a stop as it hit the curb.  There was a loud bang, like a gunshot, which was actually a luggage cart breaking the glass on a large outdoor sign.
We bought New Turkey Lira and then boarded our bus to the hotel.  The City is beautiful.  The architecture is noticeably different and everything seems more compact in this city of 15 million.
We made our way to th Ramada Istanbul Old City and checked in.  The room is small but very nice.  After freshening up it was off  to Dinner.  We had an incredible meal at a restaurant called Pirpirim.  The food was absolutely delicious.  We had some great breads, kabobs, yogurt dishes and a yogurt drink that tastes like buttermilk- PaPa would like it.  There was so much food - they just kept bringing it out.  The dessert had cheese, honey and bulgar wheat- it was delicious and we ended the meal with Turkish Tea.
Upon our return to the hotel we went on a brief walk in the surrounding neighborhood.
