This morning we had our last sit in the old bathroom and wrote a few more notes on the walls.  I now understand the lure of graffiti. The neighbourhood pheasant appeared in the back yard, an omen of approaching springtime, perhaps?

After placing the garbage at the curb, saying goodbye to a friend and Bruno, dropping the tax odds and ends at the accountant's and breakfast at The Big Stop, full speed ahead.  We drove through New Brunswick...guess what it was doing!  We drove through Maine...guess what it was doing!  We HAVEN'T escaped winter.

We picked up a coupon travel book at the Maine visitor center and scouted out motel options.  We opted for the Econolodge in Bangor, thinking we could become familiar with it prior to our July stay with the motorcycle gang on the way to Grand Rapids.  We asked about rates that might be better than the coupon, and sure enough our CAA was a few dollars cheaper. The clerk told us they had just had a freaky storm, dumping fresh snow very quickly.  We hadn't missed it, though.  White out conditions while driving.  The Ground Round was close by, and we indulged in the all you can eat ribs, and a piece of peanut butter pie, very much like Graeme's.

Tomorrow, we will escape winter, I'm sure, perhaps, I hope.

Great idea....I had a similar travel blog last summer but neglected to use it..
You are much more organized than I. Have a great trip. I am escaping winter next week and flying to Fort Lauderdale to house sit for a MM sister....Cyndi Richards..Couldn't refuse such a generous offer.

Daughter Rachel is working at Casa Verde(works front desk at a hostel) in Bocas del Toro, Panama island just off coast of Panama.....Not too far from Costa Rica....she just spent 2 months in Costa Rica but found Panama much cheaper to live! Look her up if you can!

Out of the snow and into the thunderstoms that are North Carolina :) Of course, last night here, we had thunder, rain, hail, freezing rain and snow so you are definitely faring better than NS.
It all makes Costa Rica that much better. Jungle house - tell me more :)
