So I'm actually in Darfur!

I've just come back from visiting a Therapeutic Feeding Centre (TFC) in Nyala town. Some people would see the misery and hardship, I saw a team of people making a difference. Literally taking kids who are just too weak to survive and bringing them back to health. And that's just the beginning, with play stations, health educations, child care practices and so much more stuff ... OK, so I'm a "field virgin" so everything is new and exciting ... especially using the radio! But in any case, after hearing so much abour Darfur and this base, not quite sure what I was getting myself into, now I'm remembering why I work for ACF and how a crisis like this one will be won from the ground up, with people surviving to change it around. Peace treaties sound so noble and I guess, from a western point of view, quite noble, but here, it's just a western invention and they're a dime a dozen and worth about as much. Not to say that the international communittee cannot change thing, but in the short run, TFCs and other similar programs are the way to go. But then again, it's my first time, and like with every firsts, it's both amazing and incredibly naïve. But sometimes, there are firsts that are more significant than others.

Gotta get off the internet now ... back whenever I can.
