C'est pas une joke cette fois-ci : j'ai mon visa !!!

Je le tien dans mes mains et j'ai peur qu'il s'envole - c'est pas le plus high-tech que j'aie vu - mais il est bel et bien là. Ça c'est même super bien passé à l'ambassade et je suis devenue amis avec les 2 gars qui regardaient le match de foot dans le salon/salle d'attente, et le gars qui m'avait tant frustrée l'autre fois était super gentil ... surtout quand il m'a donné le CV de sa soeur à Khartoum... C'est pas mal mieux qu'un interrogatoire et ça pèse moins lourd qu'un paquet de souliers et des biscuits ...

Je vérifie donc périodiquement que je n'ai pas rêvé et maintenant que j'ai mon billet d'avion, ça y est, c'est parti ! Je pars donc samedi soir à destination de Paris. Dès que j'arrive, je m'élance vers le TGV et Bruxelles et me voilà rendue chez Véro ! On va enfin pouvoir aller prendre un café et avoir le temps de vraiment parlé! Jeudi le 22, retour sur Paris, histoire de se promener un peu dans la ville lumière et souper avec notre cher Pierre.

Vendredi le 23, au travail avec mon briefing chez Action Contre la Faim. Une autre journée à Paris le 24 - Bonne St-Jean parisienne ! Et le 25 ... je suis tellement contente ... mais j'ai peur que si je l'écrit encore, ça ne passera pas. Il y aura quelque chose de con qui va arriver pour retarder le grand départ. Alors je ne le dit pas encore, mais mettons qu'il reste 11 dodos avant d'être en terre africaine !

Ça fait donc 3 semaines de plus que prévu avant le départ. Honnêtement, ça m'a donné le temps de faire bien des choses dans la maison, mieux planifier mes baggages, sans parler que j'ai passé plus de temps avec bien du monde. Et ça m'a permis de passer bien des frustrations AVANT de partir, donc très bonne chose dans l'fond !

Ce qui ne change pas, c'est le jeudi soir au Gogo Lounge ... j'y serai vers 8pm, alors vous êtes les bienvenus !

I'm not kidding this time : I have a valid visa for the Sudan !!!

It went well ! I went to Ottawa yesterday with a big case of déjà-vu, but then something happened, actually, something didn't happen and that it didn't fuck up ! I get to the embassy and the guy is all smiles. He doesn't ask my name and just says he has my visa! I pay, wait in the waiting/living room where the tv is on and - of course - there's footbal. 2 apparent employees are watching the game and I guess I made 2 friends when I asked who was playing (France & Switzerland), where they were from (Senegal) and if they liked it here (too hot over there in Sudan!). That seemed too be the consensus with the cab drivers as well. I'm therefore looking forward to outdoors AC.

So I have a visa AND a plane ticket ! I'm leaving for Paris on Saturday evening, then on to Brussels where I'll be staying with the delightful Choquette sisters, catching up on all the girl talk from the past 7 months since I've seen Véro and for the next 6 months before I see my bff again ;-)

Then it's back to Paris on the 22nd, hanging out and having supper with Pierre. On the 23rd, it's work ! I honestly sometimes forget this is all about work! It feels like I should be the ones paying them to do all this stuff ... then again, a) I shouldn't write this on the Net and b) I wonder if I'll be saying that in a few months ... In any case, after my briefing, I get to spend St-Jean-Baptiste in Paris, and then we leave on Sunday, I believe, I hope ... I'm affraid if I say it again, it won't happen, again! In any case, I'm very excited and from what I can hear of my 2 other fellow ACFers, it'll live up to my expectations.

All the delays, I hate to admit it, have been beneficial in a way. I managed to do alot of work around the house, finalize packing, spend more time in Paris and basically stress out and get my frustrations out before work begins, which I believe is very valuable. And to top it off, more time to hang out with everyone in Montreal, including tomorrow night at the Gogo Lounge ... everyone's welcome !
