Our last night of camping was at a place called the Highlanders right in the middle of the vineyards and was owned by a lovely family who also owns the Klawer winery (www.klawerwine.co.za)
Next morning after putting the tents down for the final time it was back in the truck for a 5 hr drive to Cape Town. Our driver was definitely on a mission to get us there as quick as possible and with the horrible suspension on the truck it was a long 5hr African massage. But the scenery and the fact it was our last drive made it tolerable. Coming into Cape Town and seeing Table Mountain in the distance was breath taking. Before getting into town we made a detour to Cape View to get some photos of the city and the mountain in the background as well as some last shots with the group and crew. Then it was on to our final destination in town where we were forced to part ways...for the afternoon at least. I know all good things must come to an end but I reluctantly did not want to get off the truck. It has been such a great journey and arriving in Cape Town meant it was over.
As it was such a beautiful clear day when we arrived, about half the group decided to take the cable car up Table Mountain and spend the afternoon there. The views of the city, harbour and beyond were incredible. Towards the end of the day we got to experience the clouds rolling in and cover the mountain, affectionately known as the "tablecloth". Dinner with the group was at a really good restaurant called Arnolds on Kloof St and then on to the bars on Long Street. It was another great night not to forget and a good way to celebrate an end of an amazing trip.
