With one week to go, things are starting to come together and I'm now getting a wee bit excited about starting my adventure. This time next week I will be on my way to Pearson International Airport to start the first leg of my journey.

I've always considered myself a bit of a minimalist, so was a bit surprised that it took me a good solid 3 weeks to pack up my house. On the other hand I thought it would be difficult to decide what to take away with me as I'm limited to a 85L pack. However it was relatively painless.  Let's hope I made the right decisions and will have what I need for all occasions and situations. The pack is definitely stuffed, but the once the 8 packages of girls underwear I'm bring for the orphanage I'll be volunteering at in September are delivered I will have some wiggle room.

The movers come tomorrow to take all my worldly possessions to a storage locker…except what I’ve packed in my backpack for the trip. And then it’s back to living with Mom and Dad for a few days while I clean up the place and get it ready for the renters. I finally have to replace that leaky pipe under the kitchen sink that I've just dealt with all these years.

This week also starts the goodbyes…though I’m trying to just think of them as "see you later".  It’s definitely going to be very tough to leave my family and friends behind for such a long time.  Thanks to email, Skype, and this blog keeping in touch will be much easier and hopefully won’t we feel to out of touch of each others lives.

On the Visa front, I was able to get 2 out of the 3 Visas with Tanzania losing out. I’ve done my research and I’ve been told it’s easy to obtain on arrival.  So I’ll just have to go with that and have a smile on my face! I also learned last minute about an international drivers permit so picked myself up one of those.  I wasn't planning on doing any driving but thought it might be good to have just in case. And it allows me more opportunities.

Hey Molly;

We tried to call you to say bon voyage several times but did not reach you. Maybe you had already deep-sixed your mobile phone. Best wishes for a safe and rewarding journey. Looking forward to your posts!
