After a visit to Summer Bay things don't get much sadder....when you're there in person, it's time to take a long hard look at yourself and wonder what muck you've been watching on tv at 6.30pm with the dinner for the past 20 years. The bus driver was helpful enough and screamed 'home and away' at the passengers as we approaced the stop for the beach, which is the setting for the ozzie version of fair city. We didn't see Alf, Pippa or Fischer (also known as flathead from what i remember) but they had the surf club and kiosk in good working order. Surprisingly enough the beach is actually fairly good. The waves were rough and sand was brown. After getting our sweat on we jumped back on the bus for the 2 hour journey back to sydney.
We also visited the aquarium. We had all week to visit and we waited until Saturday to go...idiots! The place was full of little asians with big cameras...there was some fish in the tanks aswell
We rented a car for a week and drove to Melbourne, just got back yesterday. We had the intention of seeing the tennis in the ozzie open, which we did to my surprise. We got tickets for the Vodafone arena and got to see a few good games with Sharapova, Serena Williams and Davydenko. Melbourne was a good spot, well worth another look. The place rained like Ireland and looked a bit like Ireland too. It seemed a bit more working class and cheaper than Sydney. Great Nightlife. 10-12 hours is what it took to drive there, with McDonalds every mile. We got a speeding ticket, 220dollars or something, i doubt that ticket will be leaving the glovebox though. Jamie was driving at the time, he was lucky to be under the limit. Got a crack in the window too, no doubt they'll charge us a hefty sum when we drop the car back. Aswell as that some piece of plastic fell off the bottom of the car now that i think about it...well it didn't really fall off so much as we ripped it off with a pliers since it was making too much noise, hopefully it wasn't important.
In Melbourne we stayed in a dingy hellhole of a hostel. A leaky roof and a deathtrap of a bed is the luxury that 33dollars a night will get ya during the ozzie open

. The highlight was probably walking under the shark pool in a glass tunnel, other than that, when you've seen one fish finger you've seen them all.We rented a car for a week and drove to Melbourne, just got back yesterday. Alf's pad up in the clouds next to Summer Bay
. There were no ladders or barriers on the top bunks. Jamie jumped up on his bunk one night and a metal strut which was supporting his mattress flew off and missed the Columbian underneath by inches. The next night the same thing happened. The metal bar missed the Columbian's head again but Jamie was getting closer. He must have been used to it, probably sleeping with one eye open every night. Carlos (the Columbian) had lived in the room for 8 months with his little portable tv and a few bits and pieces. Probably the kind of guy who'd consider Auschwitz akin to a 5 star hotel. One night there was another Peruvian lad, named Enrique, in the bed with him, sleeping head to toe. If the metal bar came off that night, the room would have had one less South American in the morning. The two boys didn't seem to mind the imminent threat of impalement though. I'm beginning to think we must be too soft....as Chopper (Gangster, Murderer and Mayor of Melbourne) would say 'it's time to grow a moustache and harden the fc*k up'.

What a racket!
Again Ed nice snaperoonies...particularly those shots with the players spreading like Kerrygold!! Pity we didn't get a snap of ya taking on Federer! Was pretty disappointed meself when we got to Palm Beach. Apart from getting the customary snap outside the diner that was about the size of it!! A not to mention the epic bus journey getting there sweating like a nun in a field full of cucumbers on-board! So any plans yet for hitting the coast (a most do when yer over)? A trip to Katoomba (Blue Mountains) comes highly recommended by me too. Spater,
Wezer

well man, i'm glad people admire the snaps, i was wondering why i was carrying this tripod and massive lense around with me, but now it all seems worthwhile.
As for the blue mountains, we were just up there today strangely enough. Fairly class alrite. I'll stick the snaps up on the next pod update, stay tuned.
