Hey Hey and a Huge Hungover G'Day toya,
This will be the first entry for Friday, 4th April.
Today China celebrated an ancient festival with a brand new public holiday.
But you will have to wait for that as I haven't written it yet and may begin when my head clears.
Today was also a celebration of something not so ancient.
It was Yan's Birthday and believe me that calls for a big night out.
I spent most of the afternoon walking around the city and around 5:30pm I headed across town to Yan's sister in-laws seafood restaurant. Once everyone arrived the night began. So much food and beer was consumed and by closing time it obviously wasn't enough. We all then jumped in the back of someone's pickup/ute and headed to another restaurant to continue celebrating. It was an awesome Hotpot Restaurant I had been to on several occasions. All the food is put in the middle of the table and everyone has their own little hotpot. Simply choose from the selection in the middle and throw it into your little hotpot.
Why we actually went to another restaurant was anyone's guess.
From what I could gather everyone was full yet once we began we all found we had spare room in both our food stomaches and our beer stomaches. It was such a happy and wonderful night by the end of which everyone was pretty messy yet still in high spirits.
So here's a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Yan!
I hope you had a wonderful time mate!
Always a big thankyou for a great meal!
Birthday Beers N Noodles toya.....shane

PS: I'm hoping this entry will also kick off my 'Week of Food' entries.
When talking to friends back home everyone wants to know what the food is like in China. So I thought hey, why not take happy snaps of my favourite 'pokey little hole in the wall' eateries I eat at. So each day I've been talking pictures of my lunch and dinner and the places I eat at. They are all small and very much a normal place to eat here in China. For those reading from Western countries, most of them would never remain open back home. The Health Department would have a heart attack if they walked into most of them. But to me they all offer wonderfully delicious meals and the people who run them are full of smiles.
The food in this entry though is from much larger restaurants.
Over the week compare them to what you have eaten in the Chinese restaurants back home.
