HeyHeyanda Big G'Day toya, How traditional and peaceful is Takayama? How over the top beautiful is the train ride to Takayama? As it is set in the Japanese Alps, the train ride to this part of Japan is one I hope I shall always remember. Janine and I sat with our faces glued to the windows as our bullet train twisted and turned its way through the mountains offering views of picturesque valleys and snow covered mountains. The higher we went the more snow there was and soon our views became WHITE! When we arrived we found the Hida Takayama Tensho - Ju Youth Hostel. Though the name is a bit of a mouthful it really was the most beautiful hostel I have stayed in since leaving Australia. When we located it and spotted the YHA sign we both stopped and stared and then began jumping up and down hugging each other. It was attached to the side of a temple and all covered in snow. Happy Birthday Janine! After a walk through the snow covered streets we found a funky little bar/café called the 'Taos'. Music by the Fugees and friends filled the air and we sat down and proceeded to get rather happily drunk on pizza and beer. Some time in the early hours we tried our best to be quiet as we done our best to find our room. Happy Birthday Janine! Beers Noodles toya...shane
