HeyHeyana Big G'Day toya

On the morning of Christmas Eve we left Dalats charms behind us today and made our way towards the costal town and beaches of Nha Trang. Our first stop was in a little village named Lang Dinh An. Strangely it had a massive chicken right in the middle of the village. When I say massive, I actually do mean MASSIVE. It was bloody huge mate. I have no explanation to offer for its existence. Here we were swarmed by locals wanting us to buy buy buy! Something that actually got worse at each stop in Vietnam. If you can't sit back and say 'hey, everyone has to make money', this could actually ruin your trip.

In some places in Vietnam it really is that bad!

Our next stop was not far from Nha Trang at the ruins of the Po Kiong Garai Cham Towers. The run down for these ruins in words not my own is this. The Hindu Kingdom of Champa was a significant power which evolved in the 2nd Centaury. Many relics of this empire are to be found in this central coastal area. As I said not my words but sounds cool and I had no other way of explaining it. When we arrived in Nha Trang we visited the Long Son Pagoda.

Here there was a huge nine-meter high white Buddha.

We headed out for dinner as a group and we had such a fantastic time. The beach has this effect on people, especially on crowds. Everyone was so relaxed and all were in good cheer. For those traveling alone the beach has the power to bring forth answers that maybe you are searching for. It makes your mind clear. It makes you think. It makes you stop and search.

Well, does me anyhow.

Most of all it makes you positively full of good cheer! Too full of good cheer. So cheery was I that I continued on into the early hours with several others. So cheery was I that I ate several kebabs from a road side stall. Not so cheery was I when I woke the following morning!

Beers N Cheers toya...shane
