The group had a free day to enjoy Dalat.
Several of us decided to spend the day together.
Luckily for us our tour leader decided to join us and we were taken all over the place. Kinda like a free add on. Our guide took us to the Hang Nga Guest House. This was a trip! It is this freaky hostel that the locals call the 'Crazy House'. Each room has a different theme to it. We ran around laughing like children from room to room. Some even had real people in them. OOPS! These people had actually booked and paid for the room. OOPS, sorry, next time close your door!
Next we visited the Mad Monk as he is known.
This guy is not too popular with the locals. I guess I can see why when I think about it. He has chosen to be a monk but makes a shite load of money selling his artwork. Some of it was pretty freaky. He seemed pretty cool though. Anyone who pulls Ozzy Osbourne like faces when a camera is pointed at him must be kinda cool. His little Pagoda and house are extremely beautiful.
What he does for money and what pathway he chooses to follow is his business.
If they cross over somewhere in the future or future life and he must answer for it, so be it! I guess the only point I do have to say on the matter is, if selling his art work stops him from pestering you and begging like the monks in Shangri-La China then please allow all monks sell their art work!
We spent the afternoon visiting the little market place and other assorted sites.
That evening most of us got together for an awesome meal. In fact it is a meal that has remained in my memory ever since. I had something called the 'White Lotus Salad'. I have never found a salad more beautiful since and I have never found it since. Now that's a real BUGGER! After dinner we headed to cities most expensive hotel for a round of drinks that was very uncomfortable on the budget but fun all the same.
