Hey Hey and a Big G'Day toya
The group had a free day to explore the city and a few of us eagerly headed into the crowded streets and spent the day visiting many of the major attractions such as the Giac Lam and Giac Vien Pogodas, the Re-unification Palace, the War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and Ben Thanh market.
All were amazing but the one that really stayed in my mind was the War Remnants Museum. Everything within its walls I'd say wouldn't be put on display in most western countries. The main mind stayers were the disfigured baby fetuses kept in jars. Luckily this was our last stop as it really put a stop to our energy levels.
We walked slowly back to our hotel room for a rest before heading out to spend the evening walking the cities vibrant streets. Nothing can raise your energy levels like a crowded Vietnamese street. We headed to the Saigon Saigon Bar for food and beer. We talked about our day and the things we had seen. One of the main things that I also remember was after leaving the Backpacker Area we were walking along a road that had a large white brick wall and it stunk. Then we found out why. It was where the Cyclos park whilst resting and it was their toilet.
We quickly chose to cross the road!
