First thing this morning we drove to the jetty and went for a walk along the beach. We bumped into two guys who appeared to be having trouble upturning a fishing boat. Ed, seeing the possibility of an adventure, went to see what was going on and it turned out that the boat had been flipped by a freak wave and had then been washed up where it had become stuck in the sand. Now one of the guys has bought it and wants to dig it out so he can fix it up and use it for fishing trips. Ed wanted to help with the mission for "an hour" so I lay down with my book to catch a few rays. That was at 10am. At 3.30pm a few more guys were recruited to help and at 4.15pm the boat was finally the right way up. So six and a half hours from starting, and much redness (sunburn) later, we were ready to move on! It turned out that the boat had been full of sand and so the guys had had to dig out all the sand and jack the boat up as much as possible before they were finally able to flip it. During this time many beers were consumed and very little food so I'm sure I don't have to tell you who did all the driving tonight! A mammoth 8 hour drive it was too! But Ed had fun today and I caught some sun so it's all good!
