The village of Carmel was another quaint little seaside town which is somewhere we wish we could have spent more time.
After we left San Francisco we continued driving South on the coast road and came upon a place called Carmel by the Sea, which was recommended as a stop off point by Keith Williams (friend from work), and what a great recommendation it was! We stopped off at several bridges along the way which connected the cliffs we were driving by. At the largest of the bridges we stopped and watched a helicopter hover down into the water to suck up some water in order to put out a forest fire which was burning a couple of miles away. After this we saw an amazing natural phenomenon which was clouds coming in off the pacific but still below us on the cliffs. It made us feel like we were in a plane looking down onto the clouds. It is difficult to describe or show in photos just how incredible it was.
