We spent today driving around and getting a feel for the place. The West end of Vancouver is really nice. We drove into Stanley Park which is gorgeous - so green and well kept. We saw a couple of weddings going on there too which was nice. We also drove across Lion's Bridge and back and saw the water from the bridge. We love the water! Tonight we decided to go up the tower to watch the sun set. Seeing all the lights of the city being turned on at dusk is really cool. The whole city looks fantastic in the dark. There was also a lot of history to learn from the boards at the top of the tower. E.g. the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge is called that because of all the workers who died during construction when the bridge collapsed. It was rebuilt and named after them. Learning the history of these places is cool!
The walk back to the hostel tonight (we left the car there cos of parking) was pretty grim. It is not a safe place to be after dark but its all part of the experience so we're told!!!
