We spent our last week in Egypt enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Red Sea. We cashed in some frequent flyer points at a couple of resorts and it was worth every point!

Got a chance to do some more diving and snorkeling, and as if we weren't dark enough, we also got to work on our tan a little bit more. This was the vacation-from-a-vacation portion of the trip. No sights, no culture, just surf, sand and sun.

Egypt was absolutely amazing! We spent three weeks there, but you could easily spend three months and still not see everything.
Most memorable moments in Egypt:
~Red Sea - crystal clear water, it really is like swimming in an aquarium
~The Pyramids - there's a reason it's one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World!
~Abu Simbel - We saw lots of temples, but this is arguably one of the best
~Donkeys - they're stubborn and funny looking, but are they ever fun to ride
~Drinks at the Old Cataract Hotel in Aswan - a very nice colonial style hotel with a terrace lounge overlooking the Nile River. It's the perfect place to watch the sun set and relax after a day of sightseeing!

Most forgettable experiences in Egypt:
~Climbing Mt. Sinai - three hour hike at 2am just to see a mediocre sunrise? I'll pass next time (or wait until they build a cable car!).
~Going inside the Pyramids - it's cramped, it's stuffy, and it turns out there's nothing to see but a plain empty room
~Egyptian breakfasts - Imagine a plate with a bread roll, flatbread, a couple of olives, a soft-cheese triangle, and a boiled egg. It's a lot of bread, not very tasty, and after eating that for a couple weeks, you'd be craving an egg McMuffin too.
