After a day on the beach, however, we became restless so we set out to climb the Senga Bay hills to reach "Hammer Peak" where we were rewarded with amazing views of Lake Malawi and the country of Mozambique on the other side.
After the climb, we went to see the local fishing village. As has been our experience thus far, we were mobbed by friendly kids all vying to have their photos taken, as well as some older "kids" who were also keen to have their photos taken after drinking too much of the village beer.
The fishing village brings in the catch everyday and boils and then sundries small fish on racks by the lake. There is also a small market where the locals bring their vegetables to sell - for some reason, they stack vegetables in little pyramids!
The next day we headed further up the coast, where it had been raining quite a bit, so we ran into portions of the road under water. To make sure we didn't drive off the road, some locals ran along the submerged road to guide us across the flooded parts.
When we finally arrived at the next campsite, the weather had cleared and left a big beautiful rainbow over the lake. We spent a relaxing afternoon at the pool overlooking the lake enjoying some drinks, catching up on our journal, and unwinding.
Our last day in Malawi was spent driving towards Tanzania. It was a long day in the truck, but the people in our group passed the time sleeping, reading, playing chess, doing crosswords/sudoku, taking photos (like us) or and just staring out the window enjoying the scenery.
