Where I stayed
YHA St Pauls
. and on the last day, stopped for a pint at 1pm while I was wating to go to the train, and it was packed with people having lunch pints! I like! Also, I had an hour to kill before going to the airport, so I took a ride on the underground to a random stop, got off to have a smoke and planned on getting back on the train to Liverpool Street (where the train to the airport was). But WTF, my ticket wont work to get back on... and so I had to wait in line to get back on because I found out there are zones on the underground, so i guess i bought a zone 1 pass, but got off in zone 3... so barely made it to the station and caught the train to the airport, then waited forever in line to check my bag (there was a backlog because of the volcano), then got through the checkpoint (which is way better than even here, the guy who checks the bag jokes around! He grabbed the guy ahead of me's ticket and asked who wanted to buy it at the top of hi voice!! awesome!) Looked at the screen for my gate, took the train to the gate (have to take a train between gates) and found out that I read the screen wrong and the train only goes one way... WTF. So I had to wait for a ride to my gate on a bus, there were 5 other people who had the same problem, so it wasnt only me... i dont know why the train doesnt go both ways. the guy who gave us a ride said that is his job, to transfer people between gates... anyways, I made the plane to Krakow (well, Im actually there right now, but it would kill the whole flow if I discussed it on this post)
London was awesome!! I never thought I'd enjoy such a popluated city! I never really ventured into the "real" London, so I know i missed a lot.. But where I was was great. the hostel was a little boring, not too much in terms of meeting people... it was a youth hostel, but there were families, old people, and young people (16). But the location was excelent. I walked more than I ever have in my life! Saw a lot, drank many pints, took way too many pics, I'll have to go through them before I post the rest. It did seem good to start off the trip here. I went solo the whole time and it worked out good. It was awesome not having a clue on anything, other than the general directions, just wandered aimlessly and saw lots of things I would have never have seen if i followed a map or took the bus/underground. Thats what I loved about london, no matter where you go, something is there. Shops everywhere... Vinny would love London, everyone wears suits and there are more suit stores than any other kind it seems..
