Hola! Recién llegué a Machala y antes de hacer niguna otra cosa, voy a escribirles. Siempre llego al internet cuando el tiempo de estar en la ciudad se acaba!  Entonces...
Well, I hope that the photos were well received last week...cause I´ve got more! This morning I went on an incredible hike through the local forest.  The hike was made still more interesting thanks to my companions.  Jacobo, my friend and neighbor served as an informative guide while a visiting Archeology professor from Colombia shared his extensive knowledge of regional flora and fauna. Overall, the hike turned out to be a great learning experience and a hopeful starting point for a tourism project in Cerro Azul.
In other work news...the Club de Libros Leídos (Book Club) has now raised the money to buy Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and should begin reading next week! And thanks to a generous donation from my hiking companion this morning, we are on our way to saving enough for a second set of books. We will have a library in Cerro Azul yet!
That´s about it for now. I´ll keep you posted!

Hello form Maine!
Hi Lisa,
Sounds like you are learning a lot about the place you live in -that's awesome! Are any of those plants edible? I love the pictures you send out...they make great screen savers. How is the weather out there? We have had some record warm days this year.It is just starting to feel like winter-but still there is no snow and not much ice.The other day(1/7)I drove to Union and saw 5 or 6 vehicles parked beside the road at Payson park. When I crossed the bridge and looked down at the water, much to my surprise, there were a bunch of people fly fishing??? That is crazy!Well,I've got to go for now.Hope to talk to you real soon.
Love Jeff
