As this is my first entry, I am a bit unsure of what to write and to whom I am writing. But I will do my best.

Although my Peace Corps service has not yet begun, I am already aware of the weight of this adventure. In fact, it is all I can think about. I think perhaps now I am well into what could be called the anticipation phase of this whole process. The one in which the hesitations and concerns I could not forget a few months ago have virtually vanished in the shadow of my excitement. I am truly overwhelmed by the prospect of what lies ahead. Is this really happening? Am I really doing this? YES!!!!!!!!!!! (Exclamation points really just don't do this justice. For a better understanding jump up and down three times, spin in about 50 circles and scream outloud like only a 6 year old can do and MAYBE then you can grasp my excitement)

Ok, for now, I think I have said enough. I don't think I can put on this page all that I am feeling anyhow! So within the next month I will post more, hopefully with pictures and stories of my new home in South America!

Hi there Lisa!!!!! You should be excited!!! Your life will take some dramatic turns (for enrichment) these next 2 years! Believe me , I know from experience what it did for Beth to be in the Peace Corps. Forever and ever now you will have interesting and adverturous friends throughout the world in your life!!!! I knew way back when you were in 4th grade, and we went for a walk in Lincoln, and you started asking me questions about World War II !!!! that you had a mind that would seek out adventure in life! There are some lucky 'souls' in Equador who will be positively empowered because of your 'spirit'! in their midst. So GO GIRL, you're always right here at home in our hearts in Foresthill, wherever your travels take you !!!! Love always, Grandpa and Barb
