Last night we were thrilled with the response of the people here in Santa Cruz about the ECS courses. The man directing the meeting, Samuel, one of the elders at the Hallocks assembly told of when he was a young man and Wes Steffen had him correcting Emmaus courses in La Paz. A man from the music conservatory came and studied the courses and indicated that he had been saved while studying them. Twenty-five years went by and Samuel met this man again, now the President of the legal entitity for the assemblies (required by law to represent the assemblies before the government).

About 100 people came out to hear Jim's enthusiastic description of the Emmaus courses. They were with him the whole way, enjoying his humor, answering his questions ("If I talk for 100 minutes and there are 2 people starting an Emmaus course somewhere in the world every minute, how many people will have started a course during my talk?"), even though the plastic seats got hard (at least for me who has heard the talk before!). Afterward Brad sold all 10 copies of the first course that he had brought along and could have sold more.

Tonight Jim plans to explain the Promoter system he has a vision for. Last night there were representatives from about 5 of the 14 assemblies in Santa Cruz. Please pray that even more assemblies would be represented tonight and those that God wants to be promoters in their local assemblies would come and be motivated to do this ministry. Pray that those who bought the courses would study them and continue studying the Word of God and encourage others to do the same.
