The cottage and bunky to be are great
Lest a bargain go unclaimed, we were off again Saturday morning the Anglican Church Rummage Sale. Must love church sales for deals but the funniest thing about that trip was the church lady. Jenny was looking at packages of unused gift tags and John commented that people don't use gift tags anymore let alone wrap presents, "you just hand her a pearl necklace and she'll love it." To which the church lady replied, "well, you should be careful who you give a pearl necklace to." Jenny and I both looked at each other mouths agape, and tried not to bust a gut. Mom, if you don't get it, I'll explain over the phone or ask Ken.
We also went to 2 Salvation Army Thrift Stores (middle class neighborhood one and rich area one). There was more in the former. And, we went to Habitat for Humanity's Re-Store. Rick, you would have loved this place. I was like a pig in, well, you know. They had everything from homes that have been dismantled, hardware, fixtures, windows and casings, tile, furniture and tons of other stuff, from videos, to craft supplies to house wares
If you'll notice in the pictures my baseball cap and white sneakers, otherwise known as how to spot an American. I tried to hide them for most of the week but finally had to get out of the boots. Jenny gave me a well deserved ribbing about my sneakers. Well deserved because I couldn't help giggling everytime some said Pro-ject, Pro-gress or Ay.
Overall it was a relaxing and fabulous week with John, Jenny and Jack (their child). I appreciate their hospitality tremendously. The week made me realize that I have to be more flexible on this trip and slow down. So, the schedule is out the window for now. I'll try to plan for no more than 1 to 2 weeks in advance.
