It's Sunday morning and my cousin Thom, my Uncle Scottie and I are moving a bit slowly after debating the ills of society/humanity over three bottles of wine.

I dropped Michael off at Phoenix airport yesterday morning so he could fly back to San Diego and then proceeded through the nothingness of eastern AZ and southwestern New Mexico. However, I did have the road pretty much to myself and was able to make good time and arrived at Silver City a little after noon.

After Zion on Wednesday we went to Bryce on Thursday. Stunning views but because we were too sore to hike, it didn't take us long to see all the sites from the road (view points). A deer almost took us out though and that got our hearts pumping. Luckily it wasn't a stupid deer and we both (the deer and I) veered away from each other at the same time. Michael's quote "I could see the blacks of his eyes!"

From Bryce was a long drive down to Lake Powell in Page, AZ. Michael got his first hostel experience. We had the entire place to ourselves so for $30 we had a suite complete with kitchen, living room and free coffee! The people in Page are a friendly bunch and quite the talkers. We found Ken's Old West where the drinks are stiff, the chatter lively and the band decked out in western attire.

Friday was spent mostly on the road to Phoenix with a side trip to Montezuma Castle. I don't get why anyone would want to live in Phoenix - sure there are some nice areas but mostly I found it to be a pit and the traffic horrendous. We did find a great sushi place though and were able to hook into some free wi-fi and watch the sunset - which was nice.

Last night we strolled around Silver City and had a great dinner (thanks Uncle Scottie) at a place called Diane's. Well, that about wraps it up for now. Thom, Uncle Scottie and I are heading to the Gila Cliff Dwellings today so I have to get moving.
