I woke up early, rushed through breakfast, and headed downtown for a Catholic Mass...mostly to hear the Vienna Boys Choir, which was performing.  I figured I should infuse some music into my visit...and standing room spots were free.  The singing was incredible...totally amazing, accentuated by stellar acoustics.  The choir was hidden, but they came down at the end, and those kids are like 6 years old!  Seriously, making a 6 year old wake up at whatever ungodly hour they need to get up at every Sunday morning to sing at a mass is mean.  I thought swim practice in the morning was bad, but I didnīt have to deal with listening to a jowl-y old priest saying mass in German (old school...this guy had an assistant to lift up his cape when he sat down to keep it from getting wrinkled).  They were incredible musicians though.

Next, ran to the Spanish Riding School with these Kiwis (New Zelanders) I met.  We got standing room seats for the performance (still pricey though).  The show was incredible.  Huge horses dancing around, jumping completely off the ground, and slowly rearing up on their hind legs, always in formation.  They also had this foot move where they walked with the feet diagonal to each other, kind of prancing.  It didnīt look comfortable for the horses, and they were spitting foam everywhere.

After the show, went out into the snow (!).  Vienna is cold.  Again.  We went to a light lunch after that.  (Light Vienna style: roast pork, saurkraut, and dumplings).  I decided to avoid the schnitzel (fried meat, basically).

Went back to the hostel, freezing and crashed for 2 hours.  Decided to stay in tonight and get caught up!

Auntie Heidi is incredibly jealous at even the thought that you might see the Lippizzaner stallions. We have all read Airs Above the Ground (Mary Stewart) many times. I am so glad you went. I hope it was at least warm inside. Heidi and I had a great time walking around Coronado yesterday. I got take-out at Il Fornaio for G and G. Do you need more clothes? socks? Dad left for Illinois this morning. We miss you, but it certainly sounds like you are having fun! Love you, mom
