So I'm catching up a bit on my entries...this one is for yesterday, when I made the trek from NY to DC.  After waking up, I decided that I should check on the Chinatown bus schedules and figure out my plan for the day.  Who takes the Chinatown bus on Mondays anyway?  I figured there would be no problem with getting a ticket...WRONG!  Most of the busses only had one departure, which had either already passed or was so late in the day that I wouldn't get to DC until 10 pm.  Even the Hasidic Jew bus (Vamoose) was full.  So it turns out there are a TON of these busses, and I just had to find the more obscure ones.  Fung Wah (roughly translating to "magnificent wind" apparently) just runs to Boston, so that one was out.  The innocuously named "Eastern Travel" had a spot and a good departure time, so I headed up to midtown.  When the bus arrived, I got confused because it was called "Double Happiness", so I almost didn't board, but it turns out that Eastern Travel and Double Happiness were the same thing.  Who knew...

The trip to DC was pretty smooth with nothing unusual to report (not even a Korean soap opera...).  When I made it to DC, I decided to wait in the McPherson square until Eli finished up at work.  After being asked three times if I was homeless, I moved to a Starbucks.  However, the people inquiring only started requesting money after I said I wasn't homeless, so I seemed to have discovered a good way to rebuff panhandlers.

Anyway, after dropping my stuff at Eli's awesome apartment, I went out with Eli and Lyndsay for some good Thai food, I was walking back and had just gone into the building when I heard someone calling "Ben" and a banging on the door.  I looked around, and there was Wendy and one of Bob's former advisees Iman!  So funny...I had just said bye to Wendy about a week ago after seeing a presentation on raw milk.  We talked for a bit...she's in town for a public health conference...and then parted ways.  Who knows, maybe I'll run into her again in Egypt!

That's all for now.  I'm off to enjoy the DC sunshine and check out some museums...
