Hello everyone,
Well, things have finally gotten underway. Albert resurfaced on Monday and finished the ceramic in the bathroom, making it possible to take a shower (albeit cold!). Marci and Julio made a table for the stovetop, and now we can actually cook and make our very own coffee. These little steps made it possible to move all my stuff from the classroom to the apartment, and now the classroom actually LOOKS like a classroom! It's wonderful.

Ben and I put up multi-colored bridal illusion to make a rainbow for the ceiling and put up clothesline to hang up the artwork, and also put up the mobiles from 10,000 Villages. It actually looks like a classroom now, and the kids have so far respected the area pretty well. I still don't have beanbag chairs for the reading area, but I hope to get those on Monday "Thanks for keeping the city clean"

VBS went pretty well this week; I wasn't planning to do it in the first place, but Heidi kind of put it into motion and I ended up directing it. The theme was about how we are part of God's creation, and yesterday we even got to talk about the need for respecting the environment. Today we talked about how we live in community. Since I'm still having some language issues, it's kind of difficult to make discussions work with the older kids. I'm sure that will get better as I go along... but Marci and Daisy are absolutely amazing with the kids, and Veronica helped out a couple of days, too.

So, things are going quite well now, and the after-school program will officially start on Tuesday (since we are having VBS through Sunday and I need a day to organize everything).

I hope you are all doing wonderfully!

Love,
Elizabeth
