Hello, everyone!
Well, we've been traipsing around the country a bit -- we went to Orotina on Saturday to visit Marco's daughter and husband, and then went to the beach. We had dinner in an outdoor cafe en route and the torrential rain hit just at the right time - the middle of our meal. It finished before we did, so by the time we were back on the road, it had pretty much cleared up.
It's the rainy season right now, and so it's sunny in the morning (from about 5) and it starts raining around 3. It gets completely dark by six because we're so close to the equator, and Mom and I are about ready to hit the sack by 9, which is weird.
My apartment still isn't finished; Heidi and Marco ended up firing the last construction guy because he was hiking up the price for my foreign status
We spent all of yesterday in church -- first in Pavas at Jesus Nuestro Refugio, and then at Sola Fe in San Sebastian. Both services were about 2 1/2 hours long, and the kids and dogs were running around everywhere. Marco gives really good sermons and talked a lot about equality of women -- drawing on his recent experience in talking with one of the construction guys about how they didn't want to talk to a woman (me) about what she wanted, that it was better for a man to explain things. Since Marco doesn't know anything about construction, he thought it was pretty funny.
At Sola Fe, we had a birthday and Father's Day party and celebrated with singing and food. (Of course!) We had bau, which is stewed plantains, meat, and cassava topped with a lime cole slaw. We had a blast, and played for both congregations -- the Bach Double with Heidi, and Air in G with just me and mom. Mom played along with the hymns, and the kids were pretty fascinated by the whole keyboard thing.
We also had a power-shopping trip to HiperMas, the local superTarget. They have a whole aisle dedicated to rice and beans!
Well, we're off to Pavas to work on organizing things and unpacking the books. More later, with pictures to follow!
Peace,
Elizabeth

Air in G at Jesus Nuestro Refugio
. They got a new one who can work full-time (part of the problem was that there's enough work, so the guys could only work on the weekends or at night), so it should move faster. I'm hoping to be in by the end of the week.We spent all of yesterday in church -- first in Pavas at Jesus Nuestro Refugio, and then at Sola Fe in San Sebastian.
