Well I've been here for coming up to a week now. Mal Pais and St Terresa are about a bumpy 30 minute taxi ride from Montezuma. I say bumpy because the roads are none existant, in the dry season they're barely passable without a 4x4 but once the rains come (within a month) all but the main ones are washed out.

Mal Pais is a very small village stretched out along the main road, it consists of a few sodas (cheap eating places) and bars selling the ever present Imperial. The beach goes on for miles and is very picture perfect.
The surf here has ranges from 3 feet to 6 foot+ on some of the sets. Very clean waves but very powerful and the paddle out is a nightmare compared to what I'm used to with the comparatively small waves in the UK. I've had a few good rides but can't say I'm ripping it up, the take off been almost vertical. I've certainly got worked over one time to many,(the first day I managed to rip my nose open, which is nice)!

Most days have consisted of a morning surf, breakfast, chilling, lunch, more chilling, afternoon surf to the sunset (which are amazing btw), chilling, food then lots of beer followed by some more chilling. Did I mention its quite a chilled out place?

Most nights I've managed to meet somebody new, and even managed to meet a few Brits which makes a changed form the normal Canadian/American contingent. Interestingly I met a Manchester lad who works on the Inland Revenue contract for Cap Gem in Cheadle, its a pretty small world really!
The nights are pretty quiet apart from Monday nights (reggae night, very down and dirty), wednesdays (open mic night, like a frat party not good...) and Fridays (dance night).

The last few days I've hired an ATV (Quad bike) which has been great fun bombing down the dirt lanes, the terrain they go over is pretty mind boggling, I want one for home now! plus I only managed to nearly kill myself a couple of times which is good going really.

I plan to stay here till Sunday or Monday then I'll check out Monteverde and the "tarzan rope swing"...
