Dear Paul,

We would like to thank you for finding us at the airport today. Obviously we looked a little lost and you took it upon yourself to offer assistance in finding a place to stay and transport to the hostel. Although we initially refused your repeated offer of help, as we were happy to look in our guide book for a hostel, you really proved that persistence pays off and eventually got our business.

We were already feeling a little annoyed at the unexpected $25 USD LAN Chile tax we had be slugged on leaving Argentina on top of the "Reciprocal visa fee" of $112 USD we had just paid to the Chilean immigration people, so it was nice to hear you tell us a hostel and transport could be found for a reasonable price. Thank you for rushing us so much into a decision that, by the time you had bundled us into a minibus and confused us so much with minute details, you managed to scam us out of 50 bucks for the bus ride alone that was supposed to cost $20. No really thanks for reliving us of that burden of cold hard cash we had just removed from the ATM machine it was really weighing us down and no we didn't really need it for food or accommodation.

We must admit though, it was very cheeky of you to request a tip, as you were sliding the door shut, when you had so obviously ripped us off already! There I was feeling bad and so handed you the only small bill I had, which turned out to be a very significant tip for you, only to discover that you had already made double what you should have when we finally had a chance to do the conversion.

We must admit though Paul, we were surprised when we were dropped off at the hostel to discover it was in the middle of nowhere not the centre of town like you said. We also thought you should know that you booking never made it through to the guy at reception like you promised. As a suggestion maybe check to make sure your mobile phone still works. He had no record of us and wanted to charge twice what you had told us it would cost.

We are thankful for the 3km trek we had to make, with our packs, to another hostel.....we really did need the exercise after all the steak dinners we had in Argentina and it really refreshed us after the flight. It will also be great weight training for trekking in Peru.

Anyway just wanted to thank you again for you help at the airport! We could have found our own way without you and we wish we had as we would be 50 bucks richer but hey, where's the fun in that? And what else would we have to talk about?

Cheers,

Megan and Rick
